I'm currently looking for a new keyboard that should have the following features:
* Bluetooth with support for multiple devices (at least 2)
* Built-in touchpad
* Reasonable key layout, not some "mobile" nonsense
* [optional but desirable] open firmware

I have 3+ different keyboards in my office already, but none of them checks all the boxes (either Bluetooth is super-glitchy, or the layout is braindead, or it doesn't have a touchpad, or...)

Suggestions _very_ welcome!

I was looking for a good properly split keyboard, separate halves to maybe put on separate arm-rests on a captain's chair.

Ain't many readily available retail units. But I found these in kickstarter funds-raising right now:

kickstarter.com/projects/keykr

Looks amazing, but quite a lot of money for a keyboard I wouldn't get till December, and presumably with Kickstarter possibly not even at all?

🤔

Anyone have much experience ordering kickstarter hardware? Do they generally ship if they raise over their goal? Anyone know anything about this hong kong company?

Ugh! Finally tracked down this rp2040 UART instability to the fact that the Zephyr 3.5 driver for this has completely disabled the FIFOs, so even though I was using it in interrupt mode, RX was dropping bytes constantly.

Tweaked the driver in the #zmk Zephyr fork and it's *way* more stable. Getting a real split test #keyboard soon for really kicking the tires. Newer @zephyr releases have a unified pl011 driver that doesn't have this issue.

I'm in the market for a new ergonomic #keyboard including a numpad. This is to be plugged into my Framework running Ubuntu. Replaceable keys a plus. (The labels are wearing off of my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and it looks like replacing keys would be prohibitively expensive.)

Got one you like?
